ICON Taps COO Barry Balfe as CEO in Strategic Leadership Shift

Dublin, September 10, 2025 (Business Wire) -- ICON plc announced that CEO Steve Cutler will retire on October 1, 2025, and will be succeeded by Barry Balfe, the company’s current Chief Operating Officer. Balfe, who has been with ICON since 2019, has held senior leadership roles including President of Functional Services and Pharma Solutions before being named COO in January 2025. Cutler will remain on ICON’s Board as a non-executive director to support the transition.
